A Regina landmark since 1956
A familiar site to Reginans has been the red and white Milky Way which has opened for the summer season every year since 1956. Frank and Margaret Anne Boldt and Lorne and Carole Boldt purchased the business in 1981.
Over the years, the Milky Way has witnessed many changes in and around the community, but it has remained as one of the favorite pit stops for ice cream lovers in the city. When the stand opened, only hard ice cream was served, but that changed in the mid 1960s when a soft ice cream machine was purchased.
The Milky Way opens just prior to Easter and offers 40 flavours of hard ice cream and 6 flavours of soft ice cream 7 days week. It closes on the Thanksgiving weekend - a sure signal summer is over.
